A sick GFCF child

Ok, now what in the world do you feed a sick GFCF almost 3 year old?? Now I know when I'm sick, I don't much feel like eating, but I can eat pretty much anything in the house, right?
Well, it's a bit harder with an almost 3 year old. I wouldn't call it the flu that he has, but it's similar. He doesn't want to eat a whole lot and I can't think of anything that he can have that a sick person would normally eat. Like, say the BRAT diet. (bananas, rice, apples, and toast) We are avoiding apples and bananas until I can properly test them and he doesn't eat rice on regular nights and I'm out of his bread. (poor excuse, I know, but I'm out of sorghum flour and it's kinda hard to make bread when a child won't let you leave their side)
I guess he's pretty much stuck with water until he lets me leave his side and then I might whip up some of that mighty tasty chicken noodle soup from GlutenFreeGirl. And I know he'll shake his head and not touch a drop of it, but that just leaves more for me!!
I will be so glad when his immune system catches up to where it should be. We are working on that slowly but surely. I do know that since I have put him on Olive Leaf Extract we have not had a recurring case of MRSA. Yippee!! And that tea tree oil works wonders!! I am a believer in the naturopathic ways now. I've seen it with my own two eyes, and even my very disbelieving and stubborn husband has changed some of his ideas. My little boy is on the mend and that's all that matters right now.

Hi,
I read your comment on Shauna's blog today and want to tell you I wish you wouldn't be ashamed of paying for food with food stamps! Consider it your reward for rearing children who will make great contributions to the society that is currently helping you feed them well! They are an investment, and if I lived in your town I would consider it a privilege to be helping you feed your family healthful food.

ps budgeting is an invaluable skill - if we all knew how to do it, this nation wouldn't be so wasteful!

Jen-thanks for visiting. GlutenFreeGirl definitely stirred up some emotions towards food.
My husbands work is very seasonal sometimes and can fluctuate dramatically, so we do use the system when we need to. It's not a lot, but it does help out especially with my son's diet.

ps Budgeting is one of the ways that allows us to continue to eat as healthy as possible. It's a priority in this household now.

Hi, was just looking for a recipe on here and read about your sick child and how tea tree oil (external) and olive leaf are making a difference for your child. You are on the right track, you may also want to check out your indoor air quality and water damage/mold in the building structure. I see this all the time in my job. Good luck
